Ms. Mary Gjernes began working in Aberdeen, SD in 1981 when she moved
from Sioux Falls, SD. She worked at Sioux Valley Hospital from
1978-1981 and upon moving to Aberdeen, she initiated and developed
laboratory services for physician offices. She served as lab
supervisor for a Family Practice Clinic from 1981-1997. In 1997 she
joined the Presentation College community to teach in the Allied Health
Department.
Ms. Gjernes has an Associate
Degree from Presentation College in Medical Laboratory Technology and
Certifications by ASCP and NCA in laboratory science. She is also
certified by the AAMA in Medical Assisting and credentials her as a CMA.
Ms. Gjernes received her Bachelors of Science in Business degree in May
2008. Ms. Gjernes has worked in the medical profession,
clinical and education, since 1978.
Ms. Gjernes currently is the
Program Director for the Medical Assisting Program Associate Degree, the
virtual Medical Office Administration Associate Degree, and the
Medical Transcription Certificate program.
