PROFESSIONAL HISTORY:

 

Currently Assistant Professor, Presentation College, Aberdeen, SD.  BSN Program Director and nursing faculty.  Responsible for implementation and related activities of the BSN curriculum, student advising, and long range planning.  Responsible for the Master Plan of Evaluation (MPE) for the nursing department.  Teaching focus medical surgical nursing courses, Leadership, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology.   

 

2001 - 2003     AD Nursing Coordinator, Presentation College.  Responsible for advising students, orientation of faculty, coordination of curriculum implementation and related activities at a number of sites for the SEED distance education project and PCLC.  Teaching focus medical/surgical nursing and Leadership.

 

1997-2001       Assistant Professor, Presentation College, Aberdeen, S.D.  Responsible for Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Health Promotion, Health Assessment, Nursing Research in the baccalaureate program.  Clinical instructor for Community Health Nursing.  Work with implementation of Helene Fuld Grant Scholarship Program.

 

1991-1997       Nursing Instructor, S.D.S.U., Brookings, S.D.  Taught various classes in the RN Upward Mobility Program--Nursing Research, Health Assessment, Tertiary Care, Leadership Roles.  Taught one graduate nursing course.

 

1994-1996       Health Nurse at Northern State University, Aberdeen, S.D.  Responsible for first contact health needs of the student body at the University.

 

1996-1997       Contracted for Health Assessment class and Surgical clinical for Sisseton Wahpeton Community College, ADN Program, Sisseton, S.D.

  

1989-1991       Critical Care Instructor, Education Department, St. Luke’s Midland Regional Medical Center, Aberdeen, S.D.  Responsible for program development, implementation, instruction and evaluation for RN continuing education.  Responsible for cardiac patient education and outpatient support group.  Provided outreach education to area schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and ambulance service personnel.

 

1979-1989       Nursing Instructor, Presentation College, Aberdeen, S.D.  Responsible for content in cardiac, oncology, gyn, endocrine, acid-base, and fluid and electrolyte balance on freshmen and sophomore level of the AD program.  Clinical instructor in ICU, geriatric and medical nursing.

 

1988                Contracted by Presentation College for the development of Physical Assessment, Medical-Surgical Nursing and Professionalism Courses for the baccalaureate curriculum.

 

1986-1988       On campus coordinator for Presentation College/McKennon LPN Upward Mobility Project.  Responsible for planning and coordination of the curriculum delivery and learning activities for the 51 students enrolled in the project.  Assisted with faculty interview, selection, and orientation.  Planned and coordinated the on-site graduation and pinning ceremony in Sioux Falls, S.D.

 

1980-1985       Registered Nurse, St. Luke’s Midland Regional Medical Center, Aberdeen, S.D.  On call status, staff nurse ICU and Medical.

 

1979-1980       Registered Nurse, Dakota Midland Hospital, Aberdeen, S.D.  Part time status, charge nurse and staff nurse on ICU and Medical.

 

1976-1978              Registered Nurse, Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.  Staff nurse and charge nurse CCU.
