Annette Hoines began teaching at Presentation College in
1985 as an instructor in English after having developed the
Writing Lab at Northern State University in 1979. In her
teaching career at Presentation College, Annette has
developed and taught a range of courses that cross
boundaries between the humanities and history. Her primary
areas of interest revolve around the intersections between
the arts and the sciences, in fields such as science
fiction, science and history, and science and philosophy. As
part of course development work at Presentation, Annette
created a history/humanities course that annually gives
students the opportunity to travel to important centers of
western culture, such as New York, Rome, and Athens.
She has also served
Presentation College in other capacities, such as the
Coordinator of Learning Communities and Advising, Assessment
Coordinator, Department Chair, and Academic Dean.
