This is a baccalaureate program in Radiography; my position is a 9-month contract with clinical instruction at the hospital and participating clinics in Aberdeen;   I coordinate a distant clinical site located in Fairmont and Mankato  Minnesota.   Duties include clinical and didactic instruction (utilizing Web CT for some courses) reviewing competencies, maintaining student records; i.e. advising files, attendance, disciplinary; student counseling.

   

 Community Medical Center:  Missoula, MontanaFebruary 1, 2003 – June 30, 2003

    Position:  Clinical Manager :   Supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Department

CT/US/NucMed/Spls/MRI/DEXA/Diagnostic.  Management of daily activities, budget maintenance and preparation, personnel evaluations, monthly departmental meetings, physician, patient, staff reconciliations;  quality improvement projects, directly reporting to the Radiologists and CEO; and working as a staff R.T. as needed.

     Position:   Program Director /  Clinical Coordinator/ Didactic Instructor

Teaching Responsibilities for both facilities listed above in the role of Program Director/ Clinical Instructor/Didactic InstructorDevelop and maintain a master plan of education to be used in the organization, delivery, and evaluation of the educational program on criteria established in the JRCERT Essentials of Accreditation.  Direct formal classroom instruction and demonstrations of all courses in a JRCERT curriculum. Responsible for recruitment of student radiographers, clinical instruction/supervision, counseling, financial aid director, and Radiology department in-service/ educational coordinator for staff technologists.  Accomplished an eight (8) year accreditation two years prior to school closing in July 2003 ( St. Patrick Hospital). ARRT Pass rate for all students in my history as Program Director, (Montana and South Dakota) was 100%.

St. Joseph Hospital:  Polson, Montana 1990-1991

     Responsibilities:  Solitary weekend coverage for Diagnostic Radiology.  Included diagnostic and trauma coverage for the weekend.  Scheduled shift:  Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 6:00 AM.   I worked as an on-call technologist on the weekends  and then was Program Director during the week at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana.

 

Methodist Hospital:  Mitchell, South DakotaJanuary 9, 1980 – August 20, 1982

     Routine/trauma diagnostic radiographic procedures with some special procedures.  Responsible for supervision of department in Chief Technologist’s absence.  Supervision of x-ray students and responsible for teaching in the clinical area.  Assisted with the Quality Control Program.  Position included on-call coverage.

 

Clay County Hospital:  Brazil, Indiana

RELATED EXPERIENCES

Limited Permit Technician Curriculum and Yearly Continuing Educational Workshops, 1991-1995 

Sponsor  a Limited Permit class once a year which followed the Montana proposed curriculum for the Limited Permit X-ray Technician Training. This curriculum was an 88-hour lesson plan. The curriculum was presented  through lecture material and hands on positioning classes.    Included  instruction in Patient Care,  Radiation Protection , Physics, and Radiographic Exposure and Technique.  Students learned basic projections of the Chest, Abdomen, Skull, Upper and  Lower Extremities and Spine and Pelvis.   I performed this class for four years in the early 1990’s.  I’ve  continued the  CEU Workshops yearly after.

 

 

Continuing Educational Workshops , 1991-present

Speaker and organizer of full day workshops for Limited Permit Holders/Technicians in the State of Montana at  3 or 4 sites/ year presenting a curriculum meeting the continuing educational  requirements for the Limited Permit  Holders.  Workshops involve lecture material, handouts, radiographic demonstrations and class participation through hands-on practice in positioning radiographic projections.   I have been sponsoring these workshops  every summer.
