Aaron Schultz is an Assistant Professor at PC serving in
both the Arts & Sciences and Social Work Departments. Aaron
holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with
an Alcohol and Drug studies minor along with Masters Degree
in Sociology both from the University of South Dakota and is
currently a Ph.D., candidate in Sociology from South Dakota
State University with emphases in Race, Class, Gender
studies and Social Deviance.
Prior to joining the PC faculty Aaron served as the
Community Impact Director for the Sioux Empire United Way in
Sioux Falls, SD.
In the last few years Aaron served as a Research Officer for
First Nations Development Institute out of Fredericksburg,
VA. He was responsible for planning, designing and gathering
quantitative and qualitative data research for applied
policy issues concerning Native Americans. Aaron worked
directly with research focused on Individual Development
Accounts (IDAs), Community Development Financial
Institutions (CDFIs) and the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
After moving back home to Aberdeen Aaron continued his
activities as a Research Fellow for First Nations and
recently co-authored a chapter in Integrated Asset-Building
Strategies for Reservation-Based Communities, which is
currently being utilized in both the State and Federal
policy initiatives.
Aaron resides in Aberdeen with his wife (Angelia) and two
children (one more coming early May). He is an enrolled
member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe and active in
many community activities; being President Elect for the
Board of Directors for the United Way of Northeast South
Dakota and Chairperson for the Regional Aging Council’s 2008
Senior Center Conference to be held in June of this year.
